If you really want to experience hospitality, beautiful landscapes and all things Irish then Connemara is the place for you! It is a large Gaeltacht region, meaning that the Irish language is still spoken there.
It is filled with culture, heritage and history and with a hundred and one things to do including:
Connemara National Park – With over 7,000 acres of land to call its own, you will never find a boring moment here. In fact, you could explore for days upon days and still not get bored. Open since 1980, this national park has more than enough remarkable scenery that you won’t be able to take your eyes off. The park is also home to lots of wild animals such as horses and deer. There are lots of nature trails and hill walks that take place every day so if you love a good hike then this is the perfect place to visit. Children can spend their time playing in the playground whilst parents sit back and relax. Exhibitions run daily on the Connemara landscape so pop along if you fancy educating yourself with some rich Irish culture.
Station House Museum – This museum is small but provides plenty of interesting history for the visitor. Its sole purpose is to educate people on the history of Clifden, the main town in Connemara. It also teaches you about the first ever transatlantic flight.
Clifden Castle – Built in 1810, this magnificent castle is still standing tall for all to see. Walking is the only way you will be able to reach it but you will not be let down with the stunning scenery that is on show. You can also see Clifden Bay which is a glorious view.
