Shop Street

One of Galway’s main thoroughfares is aptly name Shop Street and unsurprisingly there is an abundance of retail outlets to be found spanning the entire street. There are also some landmark Galway stores. Anthony Ryan’s on Shop Street was founded in 1909 and specializes in all types of fashion. Galway is famous as the birthplace of the Claddagh ring and Thomas Dillon’s Claddagh Gold, established in 1750, has a reputation of being the original maker of the iconic piece of jewelry.

Charlies Byrne’s Bookshop was awarded Best Bookshop in Ireland 2013/2014 in The Irish Times Best Shops in Irelands Competition and has an array of new and pre-loved books on a multitude of subjects.

Farmers Market

Galway Farmers Market is a popular draw every Saturday and has a large following from locals and tourists alike. Located on the laneway beside the Collegiate Church of St Nicholas it’s an easy find in the city.

Shopping Centres

There are three large shopping centres in the city and suburbs. Eyre Square Shopping Centre is a shopper’s delight with two floors of boutiques. Corbett Court Shopping Centre boasts over 25 shops. Whilst the Galway Shopping centre which is only a 5 minute walk from our Galway hotel has over 30 stores with a diverse range.
