Indoor Family Activities
Ireland’s largest aquarium Galway Atlantaquaria in Salthill, is home to an impressive display of sea and fresh water life. Whilst in Salthill, Leisureland is a great choice for some active play. There are three indoor pools to splash about in, mini golf and a selection of fairground rides.
Monkey Business, an indoor play centre situated in Knocknacarra is the perfect place to wear the children out particular with the every changing Irish climate it’s a good option for those rainy days.
Planet Entertainment Centre offer 10 pin and glow in the dark bowling, laser tag, pool and a motion theatre simulator. There is also a large soft play area for children with slides, rope bridge and a ball pool.
Terryland Forest park just a few minutes stroll from the hotel has a playground, picnic area and more.
The IMC cinema is located a 5 minute walk from the hotel and we have discounted family tickets available at reception if you wish to include this.
Galway City Library has a wonderful childen’s book section with toys and seat and they also run a number of family events throughout the year.
Stretch your legs along Galway’s Salthill Promenade which is the longest prom in Ireland. The flat beautiful path runs south and west along the bay of Galway. You call all kick the wall a popular and long establish tradition in Galway, legend has it that kicking the pier-end wall adds years to your life. At the mouth of the River Corrib in front of Claddagh Hall, take a bag of old bread and feed the swans swimming by.
If sports are something that interests the family then check out our events calendar for upcoming games. For gaelic games, Pearse Stadium in Salthill is the main venue to catch the county team. If soccer is your favourite Galway FC play in the League of Ireland and can be found at Eamonn Deacy Park. Connacht Rugby can be found at the sportsground.
